A New Era of Movie T-Shirts

One of the best ways for you to relive one of your favorite movie scenes or to show your support for a particular actor or actress is by wearing movie t-shirts. These pop culture tees give you the opportunity to remember some of the best cinema experiences that you have ever had.

Today, movie t-shirts are becoming quite popular in the entertainment business, and now it is becoming almost impossible to go into a store and not see t-shirts that have Ben Stiller’s quotes or Eva Longoria’s face printed on them. However, this trend only started recently. For a number of years, movie t-shirts were just a way for loyal fans to show how much they supported a film. Furthermore, these t-shirts always seemed to fail at catching on to mainstream fashion, primarily because they were not designed properly.

The trend was that t-shirts would only feature the title or the logo of the movie; however, the trend of these types of pop culture tees has changed tremendously. Nowadays, you will be able to purchase movie t-shirts that are well designed, and that are even considered artwork that can be hung on the walls of your home. Mainstream fashion has now caught on, and now these t-shirts are among the must-have items that should be in your closet.

At present, movie t-shirts fall into three main categories; these are:

• Funny Quotes – Generally, these t-shirts will have a funny quote printed on them that was taken from a particular movie, and it will also feature the face of the character that made the quote. Some persons tend to find these funny quotes confusing, especially when they have not seen the movie before. Purchasing and wearing one of these t-shirts is not only a great way of showing your support for a particular movie, but it is also a great way of showing your humorous side.

 

• Creative Jokes – The creative jokes pop culture tees normally feature a character from a certain movie, illustrated in a situation that is not really found in the script. Additionally, these shirts may feature a pop culture reference or a clever pun. Recently, the creative jokes t-shirts have become very popular among those in the entertainment business, and also among the general population. These shirts are well designed, and feature artwork that complements the joke that is being made.

 

• Logos – Movie t-shirts that feature logos are the perfect promotional poster for any movie, and can be seen worn by several movie fans; however, they are also a great trend, since designers are combining fashion with Hollywood.

Pop Culture Tees Including Super Hero T-Shirts Are Now Worn By Everyone

Today, pop culture tees are worn by almost anyone, no matter who they are. These t-shirts are worn by children, and they are also worn by bookworms and those who are fascinated with characters from popular comic series. Even if you are not a bookworm or a child, wearing pop culture tees is not only stylish, but it is a great way of showing that you do not take yourself too seriously.

Super heroes have been a part of pop culture for quite a number of years, and today there are among some of the most popular designs that can be found on t-shirts. Listed below are some of the most common types of super hero t-shirts that are currently available on the market:

Even though Iron Man has been around for a very long time, these particular types of super hero t-shirts did not become very popular until Robert Downey Jr. played the lead character in the Iron Man film, which has helped this character to become a household name.

 

• Batman – Another one of the most popular super hero t-shirts are the batman t-shirts. This popularity has a lot to do with the fact that Batman’s logo is so recognizable (the bat branded across the chest), which is perfect for any pop culture tees. Additionally, the batman t-shirts are also very popular because of this super hero has been successfully reincarnated in several television series and films.

 

• Spiderman – In addition to Batman and Superman, Spiderman is one of the most popular super heroes of all time, even though the Spiderman super hero t-shirts are not as popular as the Batman and Superman t-shirts. These t-shirts are generally red and blue and feature the Spiderman logo, which is the spider web with the spider attached. Spiderman t-shirts can also be bought in any size that you want.

DC Comics Super Heroes Help to Fight Famine in Africa

Who knew that Super Heroes were still helping mankind all over the word.  Here is an interesting article we discovered when doing some research on new Super Hero T-Shirts that we are ordering.

Announcing the 2011 Thatsmyshirt T-Shirt Model Contest Winner

After several months of entries and voting the 2011 Thatsmyshirt.com T-Shirt Model Contest is over!  We want to thank everyone who participated in this contest from the models who entered to the fans that voted and commented.  The goal was to make this a fun contest and for the most part it was a huge success.  After narrowing the field down from hundreds of entries we got down to the two finalists a few weeks ago and fan voting ended last week.  The top three models in the overall voting in order were

All three of the final three would make great models to represent our company so this was very hard for us.  The top two models (Melanie and Samantha) were our choices to select from.  Both looked great in our t-shirts and made the contest fun.  Rather than put the final decision in our hands, we decided to stick with the voting of the fans.  Being that Melanie won both votes and had an overwhelming amount of unique IPs voting, we figured she was the peoples choice and is the Winner of the 2011 Thatsmyshirt.com T-Shirt Model Contest.  Congratulations to Melanie for winning and Samantha for finishing second in the contest.

            Whether you think KISS is the greatest rock band ever or that they are just a bunch of circus clowns with guitars, you have to admit, the band has endured.  Along the way, they’ve had their share of mishaps and haters.

10:  Harness Fail:  Sure, Gene can breathe fire, but he can’t actually fly.  Unfortunately, he didn’t actually fly during this concert.  Guess the weaklings pulling him didn’t account for all the armor.  C’mon, guys, it’s not like he comes on stage in a KISS rock t-shirt.

 

 

9:  Eric Carr Fall 1985:  As we all know from Spinal Tap, drummers can be accident prone.  At least this fall was minor for the late Eric Carr.

 

8:  Paul Stanley Angry:  Paul Stanley smash the spotlight guy!  Actually, who could blame him.  It’s pretty bad when your job is to hit just one switch and you miss the cue.  Fortunately, the fans were already facing the stage, but you can’t sell many rock t-shirts in the dark.

 

7:  Kiss failure:  Hey, they can’t all be about the band.

 

6:  Gene Simmons Fall:  This is what happens when you kiss strange women in make up.  Who knows what was on that tongue?  But don’t worry, Gene disinfects his tongue after every show just to be sure.

 

5:  KISS tribute fall:  Even the tribute band seems to be accident prone.  Well, at least their consistent with the real thing.  Wonder what the KISS tribute band T-shirts look like.  Well, a rock t-shirt is a rock t-shirt.

 

4:  Drunk Ace Frehley?  Hey, the guy’s a rockstar, comes with the territory.  The only thing more weird was if he was completely coherent during his interviews or perhaps explained particle physics.

 

3:  Family Guy KISS Lyric Fail:  Bad guess, Lois.  Now if she could only do this to Justin Bieber.

 

2:  KISS hates laser pointers:  Nothing worse than having one of your rock t-shirt draped fans point a laser into your eye.  It’s not only disrespectful, but eye surgery is nearly impossible from the third row back.

 

1:  KISS lights itself on fire:  In an interview, Gene admitted hair spray was the culprit during this mishap.  It’s a good thing his make up didn’t ignite or he’d have to wear make up permanently.  Either that, or he’d have to change his stage personae to Dr. Doom.

Mafia Dons, much like Gremlins, bad things happen if you get them wet. This week we compare the greatest movies every put to film with Gremlins and their T-shirts. Quotes: It’s hard to come up with quotes from Gremlins since they don’t speak English. But that doesn’t stop our T-shirt guys! However, the Godfather has many classic lines. Most them involve threatening people, but hey that makes for classic movie making. Even if you do have to behead a few horses.

Winner: The Godfather

Timeliness: The Godfather, although classic, is about a bygone era. It’s a very distinct period piece. But Gremlins, they can be anywhere! Oh, sure, they’ve been on the endangered species list, but that’s just until someone gets them wet. Since the tsunami in Japan, the place is probably crawling with them. Winner: Gremlins Design: Let’s face it, the Gremlins have decent design. They’re cute, cuddly and that’s why Gizmo gets the ladies. But The Godfather translates into every language. Hell, that mobster look can even be seen a little in Scarface. Its classic logo design is probably just as recognizable as the Superman logo, even in other languages. Winner: The Godfather. Characters: In the Godfather, you have all the classic icons: The Don, the lawyer, the hotheaded brother played by James Caan who beats a guy with a shoe. But how can you say “no” to the big eyes on Gizmo? Even Stripe and his spawn? Mobsters can’t survive being shot, blended or stuffed into the microwave. It’s a proven biological fact.

Winner: Gremlins It’s a tough call, but we have to go with the timeless classic that spawned two great movies: Gremlins!

Video game players have a variety of personalities and most of them are annoying.  Narrowing them down to just one is like picking your favorite movie t-shirt over your favorite superhero t-shirt, there’s a lot of overlap.  Thankfully, our council of scientists were able to use the Genome Project to help break it down to these five.

5:  Barry Buttonsmash:  Barry has no skill.  His strategy is just to mash the buttons until he gets the desired result.  Never mind that your “A” button will soon be unuseable .  On the upside, if you’re playing Barry in a game, just hide out for a minute.  He’ll quickly run out of ammo.  If he’s on your team, well, you’d better hope the aliens top up in the first thirty seconds or Barry will be out and reduced to punching robots.  Next time Barry wants to play Super Mario Brothers, tell him to bring his own controller before he snaps yours in half.  This Toad Costume definites is Barry, he also wears Mario Brothers t-shirts.

 

4:  Foody Eaterstein:  Foody can’t go one level of Halo without stuffing something into his mouth.  You have to keep a separate controller for him.  You know, the one caked in orange Dorito dust and pizza sauce.  That’s probably because he wedges his controller between the logo on his rock t-shirt and his man tits.  He also wears Halo T-Shirts of course.  Once his controller gets clogged with grease, it’s all over for Foody.

 

3:  Bitchy Bitcherson:  Bitchy just whines about everything.  His controller doesn’t work, you didn’t explain the game properly or the game itself is somehow targeting his guy unfairly.  He does a lot of crying for a soldier in Call of Duty.  Maybe he should take off that Chuck Norris t-shirt and replace it with a Hello Kitty one.

 

2:  Chip Cheatcodes:  Chip knows how to suck the fun out of any game.  He reads the online walk thru and then goes right to the hidden bonuses before you can say, “All your base are belong to us”.  Don’t bother trying to talk to any of the characters in the role-playing games, Chip has already memorized which ones to talk to and which ones to kill.  Clues?  Who needs clues when you have the map memorized.

 

1:  Nathan Newbie:  You’d think Nathan hadn’t played a video game since Atari made them.  He’s the only guy that still asks, “What’s the X button do?”  Having him build a character profile is pure torture any gaming system and he appropriately wears a “I don’t spend enough time playing video games” t-shirt.  He doesn’t.  He really needs practice but he loves video game t-shirts

Round 2 of Our T Shirt Model Contest

As March Madness begins, the second round of the Thatsmyshirt.com T-Shirt Model Search launches.  Round 1 ended and we had 7 models who advanced to the next round.  We sent t-shirts to each model to model for the next round.  Unfortunately after extending the deadline a few times we only received the photos back from 5 of the 7 models.  At this point, we decided to move on with the contest with the 5 models that submitted the photos and have adjusted the contest slightly.

Here is the new contest info going forward:

From now until March 31st at noon, round 2 will take place.  Voting will take place on our Facebook Fan Page and below.  Their are two polls to vote on:

Poll #1 - Pick The Model You Think Should Win  (feel free to comment as well, but please be kind as this contest is for fun).  This poll is 60% of the vote.  You can vote once a day so support your favorite model daily and feel free to share the poll so that your friends can vote

Poll #2 - Rate each model below.  We will take the average that each model is rated.  This poll is 40%.  You can vote once a day so support your favorite model daily and feel free to share the poll so that your friends can vote

On March 31st the second round will end, and the top two will move on to the final round.  We will select the Winner and Runner Up and crown our next T-Shirt Model in early April!  Cast your votes today and every day until the 31st.

As most of you know, we specialize in movie t-shirts and our customers and readers love movie t-shirts.  Our movie t-shirt selection is large, but apparently not large enough.  If it was up to us, our movie t shirt offerings would be larger.  We wanted to share a list of movie t shirts that our customers often ask us about that to our knowledge were just never made.  We will follow this article up soon with our list of top 10 movie tee shirts that you will never see.  To see all of our movie tshirts you can browse our movie t shirts section  Our movie tee shirts section grows daily so check it out.  The following is a listing of movie t-shirts that you will NOT see in our movie t shirt section or anywhere else.  These t-shirts are often requested but never made.  If you have the license to make some of these, please make them! If they can make a Toxic Avenger T-Shirt they can make the t-shirts below

1.  Youngblood T-Shirts - Unless you are a hockey fan, you cannot like this movie.  The movie starred a young Rob Lowe (before he got in trouble) and the late Patrick Swayze and his brother, along with Keanu Reeves and many so so hockey players from the 80s such as the late Peter Zezel.  Critics hated this movie but hockey fans liked it.  Trust us, this movie is no Slapshot and trust us, there are no Youngblood t-shirts.  Yet we have received many requests asking for Youngblood T-Shirts.  We think these would sell well, the movie had some great quotes and the characters were great.  Chance that you will see a Youngblood T-Shirt: 3%

2.  Adventures in Babysitting - This movie also was murdered in reviews and did not last in the theatres that long.  However it built a huge cult following and for years was on cable tv.  If you were alive in the late 80s you likely saw this movie.  The star was the babysitter played by Elizabeth Shue.  The t-shirts will likely never be made however we have received many requests for them.  We have tons of 80s movie t-shirts, but never have run across an Adventures in Babysitting T-Shirt. If you find an Adventures in Babysitting movie t-shirt let us know.  Chance that you will see an Adventures in Babysitting T-Shirt made - 10%

 

3. Final Destination - Kind of surprised that we have not seen any Final Destination t-shirts.  This movie was released and had a sort of cult following.  After a teenager has a terrifying vision of him and his friends dying in a plane crash, he prevents the accident only to have Death hunt them down, one by one.Then it was remade and sequels are made and made and made.  You get the point.  These t-shirts are requested frequently but we have yet to see a final destination.  Chance that you will see any Final Destination T-Shirts made - 2%

4.  Talladega Nights - Kind of surprised that we have not seen these.  #1 NASCAR driver Ricky Bobby stays atop the heap thanks to a pact with his best friend and teammate, Cal Naughton, Jr. But when a French Formula One driver, makes his way up the ladder, Ricky Bobby's talent and devotion are put to the test.  When Will Ferrell is in a movie there is generally a movie t-shirt made.  Chance that you will see any Talladega Nights T-Shirts made - 50%

 

5.  Step Brothers - Another Will Ferrell movie without t-shirts.  What is funny is that cool t-shirts were worn through out the movie.  In fact we get emails weekly from customers looking for the Junk Food Kawasaki T-Shirt that we once carried from this movie.  This was another movie that failed when it came to reviews, however fans love it.  Chance that you will see any Step Brothers T-Shirts made - 50%

Thatsmyshirt T Shirt Model Search Contest First Round Ends

THATSMYSHIRT.COM T-SHIRT MODEL CONTEST UPDATE

It's a wrap, well kind of.  The first round of our T-Shirt Model Search Contest has come to a close.  We wanted to thank everyone who participated in this contest.  It was nice to get hundreds of people involved and was alot of fun for everyone.  When we created this contest we were not thinking that there could be a tie.  We were also not thinking that there would be a three way tie, but of course this is what occured.  Round 1 was supposed to end with 6 models left to move on to the next round.  When it came time to combining our ratings with the point system that we had in place, there was a three way tie for the 6th and final position with no plan in place to decide who would get the sixth position.  Our team decided that the best way to pick the 6th position would be to allow our fans, shoppers, and readers decide.  Since there was three models involved we decided to expand the second round to 7 models.  We came up with an NCAA Touranment style play in round. The only difference is that three models will compete for two positions.

Due to time constraints, this play in round must be quick.  We are planning on starting the next round on the 16th of February and all models in the final round need to model our t-shirts for the round to begin.  This play in round will begin on Wednesday, February 2nd and end on Sunday the 6th at Midnight Eastern Standard Time. 

Here is how it will work.  The contest will have 2 components:

1.  Total Number of Fan Votes - There will be a poll posted on our Facebook Fan Page with the names and photos of the three models in the play in round.  Simply vote for one of the three models.  The model with the most votes will win this portion of the contest.  The Poll can also be shared with friends on Facebook so that will generate more votes for your favorite model and if your a model involved feel free to post on Twitter and other social network sites you are on.

2.  Rating of Each Model - We will post a similar poll on our blog and at the bottom of this post.  This poll will have the models name and ask you to rate the model on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best rating.  Simply enter the number and we will take the average of the votes.

While this contest is not as important as a presidential election, it would be great for everyone to vote, so Vote!

Before announcing the finalists, we just wanted to say that there was at least 20 different models that we wanted to pick to move on.  There are definitely models that did not make this round that we would love to keep in touch with.  We need models all the time to model our clothing, produce funny videos, promotions, etc so please keep in touch.  Our next model contest will be larger and we encourage everyone who participated in this contest to come back for the next one.

Prizes:

Nothing!  Just kidding.

 

The selected model (the winner) will receive:

•  $300 in cash, $400 in cash if the winner submits a video for the contest.
•  $150 in Thatsmyshirt.com T-Shirts
•  Photo Shoot in the t-shirts you are sent in Philadelphia, PA (if you are local) or with a photographer we use in your area
•  Fame!  Our models have been on tv shows such as The Bachelorette and The Amazing Race in some adult movies (no need to comment on this) and are just very cool people in general after shooting our tees

Other prizes:

The top 6 finalists (selected by us, points you can earn in the contest, and fan input) will receive a t-shirt or two we send you.  If you do not come in first, second or third you still keep the shirts as your prize.  If you finish third you keep the shirts along with a $25 gift certificate.  If you finish in 2nd you keep the shirts and a $75 gift certificate along with the cash prize below (via Paypal)  Once the t-shirts are received you will model it within a 1 week time frame.  First place gets the cash price above, the t-shirts you received and $125 or more of t-shirts that we send to you to model as part of the contest.  We will use these photos on the site.  This can be as simple as having a friend take a photo of you with their digital camera.  Not looking for a professional shoot.
We will then post the photos of the top six and our fans (and your friends) will vote on the winner.

Pop Culture Week in Review - Super Bowl, Olympics, Super Hero T-Shirts, We Are the World

So apparently Marvel Comics went out of their way to apologize for Offending Tea Partiers in their Captain America Story. Kind if extreme if you ask us. To us he is a Super Hero and nothing to do with politics. Check out the story here We will continue to sell Captain America T-Shirts and Marvel T-Shirts (haha). The Olympics are officially underway. Very unfortunate with what happened at the Luge Track yesterday. One our favorite events and likely a freak accident, but of course they are now making the track easier on the lugers. Looking forward to the Olympics this year as there seems to see many great stories coming out of it. Did everyone see the new We are the World video? Too much of an exact copy of us personally. However, thought it was cool to see the diverse group they assembled. Since when does Vince Vaughn and Jeff Bridges sing? All I was thinking of was Old School and Wedding Crashers, definitely not about his voice. But the actors definitely stood out.

Finally, we must discuss the Super Bowl. Our Colts and Saints T-Shirts flew off the shelves last week and the game itself was a great game. Most of our fans thought that the Colts would win and nobody won our Super Bowl Contest on Facebook Become a fan for our future contests as we currently have a cool pet picture contest on going. 2009 T-Shirt of The Year

Each year we pick the most memorable t-shirt of the year and crown it as the T-Shirt of Year.  This year's selection was a no brainer.  The Junk Food Human Tree T-Shirt from the movie the Hangover is the winner.  We continuously put this in stock this year only to see it sell out within 2 days.  Unfortunately it is not back in stock, but we hope to get it back soon.  The popularity of The Hangover, along with the character than wore the t-shirt made it extremely popular in 2009.  This cool t-shirt was worn pretty much throughout the entire movie.  He even wore the t-shirt without pants which was not very attractive, but true.  We have many other affordable Hangover T-Shirts which are popular right now, but the Human Tree Junk Food T-Shirt is hands down the most popular.  Hangover t-shirts are very popular as they are cheap t-shirts that everyone loves!  We look forward to seeing many other cool t-shirts in 2010 and next December we will post the 2010 T-Shirt of the Year.  New cool, affordable, quality Hangover T-Shirts are on the way and will be here by February.  Below is a clip from The Hangover that features the Human Tree T-Shirt by Junk Food Clothing.

 

Junk Food Tees Featured on The Daily 10 Show on E

Check out this clip on the Junk Food T-Shirts we sell.  This segment was from the Daily 10 Show on E! TV.  The segment covers the new t-shirt styles such as the Tri Blend T-Shirt and how they are made.  You will see several of our t-shirts pictured including the Where the Wild Things Are Raglan T-Shirt, the U2 Boy Thermal T-Shirt and the NFL Green Bay Packers Tri Blend T-Shirt.  It was interesting to hear that the Twister Box was their first t-shirt design.  Junk Food T-Shirts are extremely popular with celebrities and their children as you can see in this video.  Look for new Junk Food Tees arriving later this month.

Our Version of The Funny T-Shirt E-Card - Send To Your Friends

Last month we filmed a series of video skits for Thatsmyshirt.com.  This was our first attempt at video skits and we are told they came out pretty good for our first attempt.  The skits were cute, funny, short skits featuring models/actresses wearing the cool t-shirts we sell here at Thatsmyshirt.com.  While the fan favorite video thus far has been our Simon Says T-Shirts Video, many of our customers have sent our Gift Card Video.  The video is definitely catered to Guys (in most cases) so if your sending a gift from Thatsmyshirt.com to your guy friends this card is cute.  For girls, hang in there we hope to film a female version shortly.  To send the card simply request the file from us by email and we will email it to you.  You can also take it from the YouTube link or just embed it from the YouTube page.  Yes, we know this may offend a few people out there, we apologize.  Most of our customers think its funny, so we ran with it.  It definitely got peoples attention.  You can view the video below.  The actress Lauren is wearing our new Chicago Bears Tri Blend T-Shirt by Junk Food.  All of our Junk Food Tees are located here.  We add new Junk Food Tees every month and Junk Food Clothing is great with bringing back old properties that everyone wants to see on a t-shirt.

Holiday Buying Guide

Many of you have been inquiring about new products that may be coming in time for the holiday shopping season.  While this list is not everything that will be coming, it will highlight some exciting products on the way.  To be the first to know when these new products arrive become our Facebook Fan  In early November you will find many new Junk Food NFL Tees and Hoodies and even some Old School NFL Sweaters.  These sweaters will resemble the Sweaters that the coached like Mike Ditka wore.  If you look for pictures of Mike Ditka back in the 80s, you will definitely see his famous trademark Sweaters.  Stock on these will be limited so get them while they last.  In the middle of November we will be getting in new Nightmare Before Christmas T-Shirts and Hoodies.  Very cool stuff in time for the movie and the holidays.  In late November, look for Disney Junk Food Tees and Sweatshirts.
